The Sun Enterprise Systems Interface (SESI) 1.0 is a high-speed, half-sized, PCI-based interface to connect Enterprise 3500-6500 servers to mainframe ESCON channels.SESI enables direct connection of Sun Enterprise servers to IBM and plug-compatible mainframe systems for data transfers at higher speeds compared to conventional network transfers. The SESI runs in both TCP/IP and tape emulation mode for seamless interoperability with IBM hosts. SESI can support ESCON transfer rates as high as 16 Megabytes/sec. with its onboard processor and full 32-bit PCI compliance.
