The IBM System Storage N5500 Model G10 is designed to provide a single-node gateway with NFS, CIFS, FCP, and iSCSI support in a 3U filer mounted in a standard 19-inch rack. The N5500 gateway does not include storage in the base chassis. The N5500 Model G10 supports a maximum of 336 LUNs, 4 GB of ECC memory, and four backend Fiber Channel loops.The N5500 Models G10 is a member of the IBM N series family. The models are specialized storage servers designed to provide end-user clients and servers on an Ethernet LAN access to storage resources attached to Fiber Channel SAN storage disk subsystems and allocate storage on their behalf, on approved, predefined storage devices. The N5500 gateways appear to clients on the LAN as a standard Network Attached Storage (NAS) device and behave as an efficient conduit between the clients and Fiber Channel storage systems.
