IBM has enhanced its SCSI hard disk drive (HDD) lineup with the latest generation offerings that provide higher performance and increased capacity. The 10, 000 rpm offerings provide an easy way to extend the performance range of entry servers handling demanding transaction processing tasks and of workstations dealing with enormous realtime video data files. These HDDs have Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology (S.M.A.R.T.), which warn of predictable forms of impending hard drive failure. These new drives benefit from a drive quality, reliability, compatibility, and testing program.
