The HP SureStore CD-ROM Server/Towers connect CD-ROM drives to twisted-pair Ethernet networks. All network users can share any CD in the connected CD-ROM drives. The server module located in the top bay of the 8-bay server/tower is internally connected to the other 7 bays, into which CD-ROM drives, DVD-ROM drives, and CD changers can be added and exchanged.The HP SureStore CD-ROM Server/Towers connect directly as nodes on an Ethernet network; they are file-server independent. Installation does not require client or server software. A network connection is the only requirement prior to using the CD-ROM server. The server/tower acts as a network file server; network client communicates directly with it using standard network operating system commands. The HP SureStore CD-ROM Server/Towers are multi-protocol devices. They are able to simultaneously support various network operating environments. New network operating systems are supportable by downloading new firmware to Flash memory.
