HP StorageWorks Reference Information Storage System (RISS) is the active-archiving solution that exploits data by turning it into information. Application aware, content based indexing and powerful search tools ensure unprecedented accessibility to information. Data is stored securely to assist customers that need to comply with data retention regulations and IT operational costs are minimized via automated data migration policies and end user initiated information retrievals.This release of Reference Information Storage System is focused on decreasing the cost per terabyte through increased smart storage cell capacity, opening the RISS to additional archiving and records management applications through an updated software development kit / Application programming interface (SDK/API), and enhanced block level single instancing capabilities These enhancements complement HP's existing active archiving of email and Microsoft Office document capabilities.Base system provides 2.8 TB of managed storage for reference information. It includes HP unique features such as full text indexing, grid computing architecture and content protection, and provides access management, security and load balancing features.
