The PA-8800 is the 9th generation processor with many improvements over the PA-8700+ processor, its predecessor. The PA-8800 with its 300 Million transistors per chip provides HP's customers with a new generation of its PA-RISC processor line with significant performance improvements and provides an easier migration to Itanium2. In addition, the PA-8800 allows for two CPU cores on a single chip.
