The IBM Ethernet Switch with the Edge Layer 3 upgrade provides support for Full Layer 3 multiprotocol routing in addition to base features and are considered "premium" level devices. This feature includes support for RIPv1, RIPv2 and OSFPv2. The base features without this upgrade are support for Layer 2 and base Layer 3 switching.
