Cisco Universal Access Server AS5200 - remote access server
Cisco Universal Access Server AS5200 - Remote access server - 3 / 3 - Ethernet, ISDN - 60 x Mdm 56 Kbps - external
Using MICA technology, Cisco has created a new implementation that enables direct digital connection, providing a significant increase in density over first-generation solutions while reducing costs. Cisco MICA architecture strips off the analog portion of the modem. The digital signal coming through the ISDN line stays digital.By leveraging the MICA architecture, Cisco has increased its DSP software performance to the extent that it can multitask modem operations onto single components. For example, Cisco has implemented the compression and error-detection code into a single RISC processor with dual-signal processing on each of three digital signal processors (DSPs) that can accommodate six modems per MICA modem module. The technology also provides integrated channelized E1 (R2) capability in the AS5200, eliminating the need for an external converter box.Utilizing Cisco`s breakthrough MICA DSP technology, network managers are assured of the highest performing, highest flexibility, standards-compliant access platform for today and tomorrow. Future technologies and enhancements, such as ITU V.90, are easily implemented via a simple software upgrade. The modem modules in the AS5200 support the Rockwell/Lucent K56flex technology for up to 56-kbps performance (the actual connection speed depends on line conditions). In addition, future software enhancements will provide functionality for emerging multimedia applications.
