The SES has two main applications. First, it can be added as a feeder to an IGX 8400, enabling the IGX 8400 to leverage MGX 8850 and MGX 8220 service modules. Second, the SES can be added as a Switched Virtual Circuit/Private Network Node Interface (SVC/PNNI) controller to an IGX 8400 or BPX 8600 to provide integrated SVC signaling and PNNI routing as well as support for Soft Permanent Virtual Circuit (SPVC) connections.
