Cisco is pleased to introduce new Gigabit Ethernet 1000BASE-T solutions to expand the Catalyst 4000 family with scalable, standards-based Gigabit Ethernet over Category 5 copper cabling. This is an exciting new Gigabit technology, expected to grow almost twice as fast as Gigabit over fiber. These new modules continue to strengthen the position of Catalyst solutions by broadening the standards-based Gigabit Ethernet interface and cabling alternatives (now offering RJ-45 interfaces and GE over Category5 copper cabling). These solutions support distances up to 100 meters for horizontal runs in the data center and wiring closets.
