The Cisco SFS 7008 InfiniBand Server Switch maximizes reliability, availability, and serviceability. With fully redundant, hot-pluggable components, the Cisco SFS 7008 provides a director-class, eight slot, 96-port switch for building scalable, highly available clusters. The Cisco SFS 7008 is designed to provide scalability with minimal downtime. In large clusters, minimizing downtime requires rapid hardware and software upgrades. With fully redundant power, cooling, and control processors, every system FRU is hot-swappable and supports automatic failover. In the Rapid Service Architecture, a passive mid-plane design isolates all active electronics on the front of the chassis, with all cables connected to the back. This allows switch modules to be replaced without detaching a single cable-a powerful concept when all ports are cabled and a board needs to be quickly replaced, improving mean time to repair (MTTR) from days or hours to minutes. Also, multiple system-image versions automate rolling upgrades and rollback-further enhanced by the ability to automatically upgrade FRUs and components when inserted.
