SFPs plug into a G1000-2 card to link the port with the fiber-optic network. The type of SFP determines the maximum distance that the Ethernet traffic will travel from the card to the next network device.The G1000-2 card supports two types of SFPs: 1000Base-SX and 1000Base-LX. The 1000BaseSX 850 nm compliant module operates on multi-mode fiber optic links and travels up to 300 meters on 62.5 micron fiber and up to 500 meters on 50 micron fiber.
