The multiservice interchange card (MIX) adds TDM connection capabilities between MIX-enabled network modules on a Cisco 3660 multiservice platform. MIX functionality permits connection of TDM streams between separate network modules to support applications that are sensitive to time delay, such as voice and video. With MIX, different types of traffic can be combined on a single T1 or E1 connection, giving customers the flexibility to manage traffic through their routers efficiently, as either traditional TDM connections or in packet-based format. In addition, extended availability drop and insert (EADI) capabilities have been enhanced to allow MIX connections across slots to stay up through a router reload.
