The Cisco InfiniBand PCI-X Host Channel Adapter (HCA) allows servers to participate in high-performance server clusters. Designed for use with the Cisco SFS 3000 Series Multifabric Server Switch and Cisco SFS 7000 Series InfiniBand Server Switch, the Cisco InfiniBand PCI-X HCA delivers end-to-end compatibility, performance tuning, and simplified management.By creating one unified fabric for all types of networking traffic, including interprocess communication, network, and storage, IT managers can build modular systems with virtualized I/O, reducing the number of ports and associated management challenges. The PCI-X HCA creates two 10 Gbps connections from the server to the Cisco SFS 7000 Series InfiniBand Server Switch or Cisco SFS 3000 Series Multifabric Server Switch. The Cisco SFS family provides a high-bandwidth, low-latency interconnect to the HCA-enabled servers as well as to Ethernet and Fiber Channel expansion gateways for interconnecting the servers to existing LANs, WANs, and SANs.
