Cisco's components are easily and inexpensively upgradeable as customer requirements change.The Broadband Trunk Module front card provides an Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) trunk interface so that the IGX can use the standard ATM cell relay protocol over T3/E3 trunks. The trunk rate can be as low as one T1/E1 rate. This supports migration up to T3/E3 rates in T1/E1 increments with minimal downtime for traffic rerouting. The Broadband Trunk Module card set consists of the BTM front card and either an AIT-T3 or an AIT-E3 back card.
