Network interfaces reside on port adapters that provide a connection between the routers' Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) buses and external networks. Port adapters can be placed in any available port adapter slot, in any desired combination.The Cisco 7202 is part of the Cisco 7200 series routers. The Cisco 7202 supports multiprotocol, multimedia routing and bridging over a wide variety of LAN and WAN interface types. The Cisco 7202 has two slots for the port adapters, one slot for an Input/Output (I/O) controller, and one slot for a network processing engine. You can place the port adapters in either of the two available slots.
