Cisco announces the next step in backbone connectivity and flexibility for Internet service providers (ISPs) and enterprises, the one-port Gigabit Ethernet Port Adapter Module for Cisco 7200VXR routers with NPE-300.The Gigabit Ethernet port adapter offers an additional choice of high-speed LAN connection to the Cisco 7200VXR. The Gigabit Ethernet port adapter does not offer wire-rate performance on Cisco 7200VXR but does offer performance throughput suitable to WAN aggregation applications. The Cisco 7200VXR - when deployed as a WAN aggregation router - can be integrated into a gigabit Ethernet campus backbone using the new Gigabit Ethernet port adapter.
